We are forced to pay taxes on our phone bills that are to be used to add additional infrastructure for rural internet capabilities. I just talked to my local Centurylink provider and was told that due to FCC budget cuts, there would be no additional infrastructure added in my area for at least the next year. If this is the case, how can they still collect the taxes? Where is this tax money going if not to provide such capabilities?
